Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of a steam-water hammer by providing an apparatus for injecting and mixing steam to a fluid stream with a means for discharging the steam and a material mixing device for mixing the steam with the fluid stream within a conduit of a cylindrical shape.
CONSTITUTION: This mixing apparatus has a conduit 21 of a substantially cylindrical shape having an inlet 22 and an outlet 26 and is provided with an L- shaped tubular conduit 24 as a steam discharging means so as to penetrate the wall of the conduit 2. The material mixing device 32 is disposed within the conduit 21. The steam is supplied from the tubular conduit 24 and is discharged into the conduit 21 from an outlet 29 proximity to the material mixing device 32. The material mixing device 32 has mixing elements for inducing a rotational angular velocity to the fluid stream passing plural orifices. Usually, the material mixing device has a plug means 30 shielding the outlet 29 of the tubular conduit 24. This plug means is adapted to be opened against a spring 33 by the steam pressure from the tubular conduit 24.
