To provide a steam stop valve capable of avoiding the event that a valve rod stops movement or has too-high sliding resistance.
The steam stop valve includes a valve element bushing formed by a valve chest and enclosing a valve element, the valve rod 6 for moving forward and backward the valve element relative to a valve seat, and a valve rod bushing 7 for functioning as a sliding pipe for the valve rod 6. At the other end of a first sloping face 6a of the valve rod 6, one end of a second sloping face 6f which spreads out wider from the side of one end of the valve rod 6 toward the side of the other end is continuously provided. At one end of a first sloping face 7a of the valve rod bushing 7, one end of a second sloping face 7b which spreads out wider from the side of one end of the valve rod bushing 7 toward the side of the other end is continuously provided.
