A steam turbine 10 of an embodiment includes: a turbine rotor 30 having a rotor disc 31 where a plurality of implanting grooves 32 of running along a turbine rotor axial direction are formed over a peripheral direction of the rotor disc; moving blades 40 implanted in the implanting grooves 32; stationary blades 52 alternately arranged with the moving blades 40; a cooling steam supply pipe 25 for supplying the cooling steam; a cooling steam passages 35 each formed between an inner diameter side end surfaces 42 of an implanted part 41, and a bottom surface 32a of the implanting groove 32; an upstream side projection strip part 36 formed over the peripheral direction on the inner peripheral side in the radial direction more than the implanting grooves 32 of an upstream side end surface 34 of the rotor disc 31 and projecting to the upstream side; and cooling steam passages 37 each inclined toward the center of the inner diameter side end surface 42 of the embedded part 41 from the inner peripheral side in the radial direction more than the upstream side projection strip part 36 of the upstream side end surface 34 and communicating with the cooling steam passage 35.
