Abstract:
To provide steel for a connecting rod, having high tensile strength and yield strength, excellent in fatigue strength to repeating stress of tension and compression in the axial direction, and low in thermal conductivity.
This steel for a connecting rod includes C, Si, Mn, P, S, Cr, Al, Ti, V, N and O; and Cu, Ni and Mo as selective elements, and has ≥47 of fn1, ≥0.60 of fn2 and 0.0002-0.0080 of fn3, wherein fn1=6.7×(42[Si%]+25[Mn%]+14[Cu%]+12[Ni%]+16[Cr%]+12[Mo%]+42[Al%]+14[V%])0.5...(1); fn2=[C%]+[Si%]/7+[Mn%]/5+[Cr%]/9+[V%]/2-5[S%]/7...(2); fn3=[Ti%]-0.599[O%]...(3).
