Abstract:
To provide a steel cord for reinforcing the strength of a tire and to provide a pneumatic radial tire where the steel cord is applied.
This steel cord 1 for reinforcing tires is composed of an inner layer 2 made of three filaments and an outer layer 3 made of seven or eight filaments and covering the inner layer 2 and has the same direction of twist in the inner layer 2 and the outer layer 3. The steel cord 1 has a structure where the layers 2 and 3 have the same period of twist and is produced by a simplified process, and rubber permeability is improved so as to improve durability when the steel cord 1 is applied to tires.
