Title:
STEEL CORD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3213698
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a long-lived steel cord, good in penetrability of a rubber, excellent in shape retaining properties and fatigue resistance of the cord and suitable for a radial tire by laying up core wires and side wires composed of high tensile strength steel wires.
SOLUTION: This steel cord is obtained by stranding side wires 4 composed of high tensile strength steel wires having 0.15-0.45 mm diameter in the same direction as that of the lay of core wires 3 at a ratio of lay pitch of the core wires 3 to that of the side wires 4 within the range of 1.2-2.5, laying up the 7-8 side wires 4 for the two core wires 3 so that the average clearance between the adjacent side wires 4 may be ≥0.02 and ≤0.07 mm and forming a two-ply lay steel cord 2. The resultant steel cord 2 is used as a ply cord or a belt cord to manufacture a pneumatic steel radial tire.
