Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a steel for an electric welded steel pipe having superior groove corrosion resistance at the weld zone by adding specified percentages of Si, Mn, C and S to Fe.
CONSTITUTION: The steel consisting of, by weight, ≤1% Si, 0.1W1.5% Mn, ≤0.05% C, ≤0.005% S and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is produced. This steel has the superior groove corrosion resistance. The groove corrosion resistance is further improved by adding ≤0.5% each of Cu and/or Cr.
