Title:
STEEL MAKING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS624813
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
In a process for producing steel having an adjustable carbon content, a direct-current arc furnace is equipped with at least one electrode (1) which has a through-channel (3) and is connected to one of the poles of a direct current source, while the charge and at least one bottom electrode (6) are connected to the other pole of the direct-current source. According to the invention, highly reduced material in powder form and/or pellet form and also slag formers and reducing agents are fed into the furnace through the channel (3) in the electrode (1). Scrap (4) is also fed, and the reducing agent/highly reduced material ratio is controlled in such a way that a desired final carbon content in the steel is reached.
