Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a strain relief device which protects a wire/cable from breakage, even if a tensile force is applied, and the method of using the device. CONSTITUTION: A strain relief device 18 uses a pair of posts 26 and 28 in a housing 20. A wire/cable 22 is wound around the posts, and if a tensile force is applied to the wire/cable, a part of the wire/cable presses another part of the wire/cable which is pressed against one of the posts. The wire/cable 22 is tightened on one of the posts. If the tensile force is increased, the tightening force is increased in proportion to the tensile force. The height of the strain relief device is low and approximately equal to the diameter of the wire/cable 22.
