A steel pipe 1 is the steel pipe used for forming a structure by executing circumferential butt welding, and a range of at least 2λ from both end parts of the steel pipe 1 is formed into a flat part 1a to bring a variation of a pipe diameter into 0.02% or less of a steel pipe outside diameter, wherein λ is an initial buckling half-wavelength of the steel pipe and satisfies λ=1.72√(De/2*t), where De represents the outside diameter of a pipe end and t represents a sheet thickness of the steel pipe.
