Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a steel for a steel sheet for a can small in defects caused by inclusions at a low cost by specifying the compsn. composed of Ti, C, Si, Mn and iron and regulating the grain size of oxide inclusions easy to deform and pulverize.
CONSTITUTION: In a steel having a compsn. contg., by weight, 0.002 to 0.020% Ti, 0.02 to 0.1% C, 0.001 to 0.1% Si, 0.15 to 1.0% Mn, and the balance iron with inevitable impurities, the grain size of oxide inclusions is regulated to ≤50μm, and the oxides of Ti, Mn and Si are used as the main components. Thus, the steel for a steel sheet for a can small in the generation of defects at the time of can making and excellent in workability can be obtd. This steel is obtd. by subjecting molten steel after refining to vacuum degassing treatment or deoxidation to attain ≤250ppm O by the addition of a deoxidizer, thereafter adding a Ti alloy, e.g. composed of 10 to 70% Ti, Fe, Mn, Si or the like to form its compsn. into a prescribed one and next executing an ordinary process of continuous casting-hot rolling-cold rolling.
