PURPOSE: To provide the steel strip connecting method for preventing a chevron shape connection of a preceding steel strip and a succeeding steel strip in a plating processing line of a sheet metal.

CONSTITUTION: In the vicinity of an outlet of a welding machine, a width center position of a preceding steel strip is detected at least in two parts, and also, in the vicinity of an inlet of the welding machine, a width center position of a succeeding steel strip is detected at least in two parts, and based on these position detection results, at least one of the preceding steel strip and the succeeding steel strip is moved in the width direction, and the width center positions of both of them in a welding scheduled line are allowed to coincide with each other.
