Title:
STEEL WIRE SUPERIOR IN LOW TEMPERATURE DUCTILITY AND ITS MANUFACTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3846982
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly reliable steel wire that excels in ductility at low temperatures as well as at room temperature by specifying elongation in a tension test in the liquid cooling medium of a specific temperature range and [elastic limit load/breaking loard], making the structure into a pearlite structure and also fixing a tensile strength.
SOLUTION: The steel wire is subjected to a tension test at room temperature to -50°C. The test at low temperatures is performed with a liquid cooling medium such as ethyl alcohol and liquid nitrogen, so that high precision is contrived for the test. The elongation in this case is 3% or higher, desirably 5% or higher, with [elastic limit load/breaking load]≤0.95, making available the steel wire superior in low temperature ductility. This steel wire is desirably provided with a pearlite structure and a tensile strength of 1.800N/mn2 or higher. In addition, this steel wire is such that it contains 0.6-1.0 wt.% C, that a relation between the vol.% of primarily eutectoid ferrite and a pearlite lamella interval λμm is preferably within the hatched part, and that, in the wire drawing at 80% or higher draft, the sum of the ranges in excess of 100°C in its temperature history is set as 1,500°C/sec or below, with distortion removing annealing carried out then.
