Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent unexpected start of a vehicle by releasing a locking member which locks it in the P and N range, at the braking time. CONSTITUTION:A shift lever of an automatic transmission gear has a pin 5 which is pressed upward. The lock member 7 of a shift lock is placed below the guide pin 5. So, with the brake inoperational, the shift lever is not be able to be operated. Once the brake is applied, an actuator 8 operates so that the locking member 7 turns counterclockwise through the center of a turning shaft 7a. The locking board 7b is displaced from the position where it holds the guide pin 5, that is, moved from the locking position for the guide pin 5 to the releasing position. The guide pin 5 is then able to be lowered to enable the shift lever of being operated from the P range to the R range, whereby releasing the shift lock. As a result, the vehicle may be prevented from unexpected start.
