Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device for an automobile to shorten the length of a hydraulic cylinder and improve loading ability of a vehicle.
SOLUTION: A steering device for an automobile comprises a hydraulic cylinder 30 of which a power steering device consists in cooperation with a lack pinion gear axially movably mounted on a gear box 41 fixed at a car body; and a rack shaft 43 integrally coupled to the piston 32 of the hydraulic cylinder 30 and moved by the power steering device through a pinion gear rack. A slide groove 38 extending orthogonally to the axis of a cylinder is formed in a slide protrusion 37 protruding from the outer peripheral part of the hydraulic cylinder 30. The sliding protrusion 37 is fitted in the slide recessed part of a gear box 41 and an eccentric shaft 55 driven by a motor is fitted in the slide groove 38, and by rotating the eccentric shaft 55, the hydraulic cylinder 30 is axially moved.
