Title:
STEERING DEVICE FOR OUTBOARD ENGINE OF SMALL-SIZED SHIP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3614499
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To extend the tip portions of the piston rods of the steering cylinders between two outboard engines to link them to the steering levers of the outboard engines and thus to steer without a hitch even if one of the outboard engines is tilted up in a small-sized ship having the two outboard engines mounted in parallel.
CONSTITUTION: When both of outboard engines are in a tilted-down state and a hydraulic cylinder 20 is extended, a right steering arm 22 is moved to the left side and a right outboard engine 1 is steered in the direction of the arrow. A left outboard engine 1 is steered in the same direction by moving a left steering arm 23 to the left side. Next, when the left outboard engine 1 is tilted up, for example, the left steering arm 23 and a piston rod 21 are rotated around its axis but the right steering arm 22 is kept in the same state as before the left outboard engine 1 is tilted-up because it is rotatably connected to a joint A independently of the piston rod 21.
