To provide a steering device for an outboard motor that can suppress abrupt movement of a handle bar when force such as to change the direction of the outboard motor is exerted on a body of the outboard motor.
The steering device 13 comprises the handle bar 15 provided at the body 12 of the outboard motor, and a damper 16. The damper 16 includes a cylinder body 20 and a rod 21 passed through the cylinder body 20. The cylinder body 20 is partitioned into a first fluid chamber 25 and a second fluid chamber 26 by a piston part 22. The damper 16 is provided with a damping force generating part 24 through which fluid flows when the cylinder body 20 and the rod 21 move in relation to each other. The rod 21 is attached to first members 30, 31, which cannot be moved sidewise relative to a hull 10. The first members 30, 31 can be vertically rotated on a tilt shaft T. The cylinder body 20 is coupled to a second member 32, which moves with the body 12 of the outboard motor, via a link 36.
