PURPOSE: To improve operating performance for assembly while safety against collision is being secured by rotatably pivoting the lower end section of a steering shaft case onto a body side with a horizontal axial bolt via a bracket furnished with a capsule fixed by shear pins, and thereby allowing the lower end section to be rocked around the horizontal axial bolt.
CONSTITUTION: The upper section of a steering shaft case 2 is suspended and fixed on the lower side of an instrument panel via a bracket 3, a vertical V-shaped notch 9 opened afterward is bored on a bracket 5 welded to the lower end section of the steering shaft case 2, and a release capsule 7 furnished with a round hole 11 is fixed onto its center section with shear pins 29. Furthermore, the release capsule 7 is fixed onto a pedal bracket on the body side with a horizontal bolt inserted in the round hole 11. When an engine is pushed afterward because of collision, the pedal bracket starts going afterward, and the shear pins 29 are then broken, so that the bracket thereby falls down so as to be released while the bolt and the release capsule 7 are left remaining on the pedal bracket.
