To provide a steering device which is advantageous for material selection or superior in operability.
The steering device is provided with an operation lever 2 operated in the vehicle longitudinal direction by a driver, a steering mechanism 3 steering the steered wheel of a vehicle, and a connection mechanism 4 connecting the operation lever 2 with the steering mechanism 3 and transmitting the operation of the lever 2 in both fore and aft directions only by pulling force. The connection mechanism 4 is provided with a pair of pull rods 7A, 7B arranged in parallel vertically, and a connection rod 8 connecting the front end parts of the pull rods 7A, 7B and arranged in parallel with the operation lever 2. The pins 13A, 13B of the operation lever 2 are engaged with long holes 12, 12 formed in the rear ends of the pull rods 7A, 7B, and the front end of the pull rod 7A is connected with the steering mechanism 3.
