The steering device includes a first shaft 31 of a steering member side and a second shaft 32 of a steering wheel side, and steers the steering wheel by transmitting steering torque of the steering member to the second shaft 32 from the first shaft 31. The steering device includes a connection portion R (the inner peripheral surface 31A of the first shaft 31 and the outer peripheral surface 32A of the second shaft 32), and a marker 40. The connection portion R coaxially connects the first shaft 31 with the second shaft 32, and allows the relative rotation of the second shaft 32 to the first shaft 31, when the reverse input torque of a predetermined value or greater is applied from the steering wheel side to the second shaft 32. The marker 40 is provided to the first shaft 31 and second shaft 32, and records the relative rotation amount Y of the second shaft 32 when the second shaft 32 is relatively rotated in relation to the first shaft 31.
