Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device that allows a turning shaft to further smoothly move in a shaft direction while suppressing the turning shaft from rotating in a circumferential direction.SOLUTION: A rotation stop mechanism 60 has a support member 62, two metal balls 63, a support shaft 64, and two bearings 66. The support member 62 is stored in an inner peripheral surface of a storage part 19 provided on an outer peripheral surface of a second housing 16b. The support member 62 is pressed toward a rack shaft 12 with a compression coil spring 61. The two metal balls 63 have through-holes 63a. To the through-holes 63a of the two metal balls 63 are fitted a pair of small-diameter parts 64a of the support shaft 64. The pair of small-diameter parts 64a of the support shaft 64 are supported to be rotatable with respect to the support member 62 via the bearings 66. Spherical surfaces 63b of the two metal balls 63 are in contact with a plane part 12b of the rack shaft 12 while being lined in a direction orthogonal to a shaft direction of the rack shaft 12.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
