Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack-and-pinion type steering unit capable of inhibiting occurrence of strange noise.SOLUTION: In a steering unit 100, a pinion shaft 2 is press-fitted into a ball bearing 7, loose-fitted into a needle bearing 8, and thus rotatably supported. A rack guide 3 comes into contact with a rack shaft 1 in a third direction. A coil spring 6 is interposed between the rack guide 3 and a guide plug 5, and thrusts the rack guide 3 against the rack shaft 1. A first restraint member 9 is interposed between the internal circumferential surface of a rack guide storage 41 and the rack shaft 1, and located on an opposite side of the ball bearing 7 with respect to the rack shaft 1 in a second direction. The first restraint member 9 restrains the rack shaft 2 from moving toward the needle bearing 8.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
