PURPOSE: To prevent a quick start or the like due to the malfunction of a driver and improve the safety by constituting a steering lock control device so that a key can be rotated to the lock position by the operation of a latch device only when a shift lever is shifted to the parking position.

CONSTITUTION: A coupling device 30 constituted of a V-shaped lever 32 coupled with the manual operation member 12 of a latch device, a spring 33, a solenoid 36, a plunger 38 with a contact piece 37, a spring 39 and a magnet 40 is provided. A parking switch 41 and a plunger position detecting switch 44 are connected to the coil 43a of the solenoid 36, a non-parking switch 42 and a switch 44 are connected to the coil 43b respectively. When a parking position signal is received from the switch 41, the operation of a latch device is allowed, the steering lock is rotated to the lock position, and a key is prevented from being extracted when an engine is stopped.
