A cover 86 is elastically and repulsively engaged with a solenoid 84, and a return spring 85 is arranged between the solenoid 84 and a lever 82 by surrounding a plunger 83, and an engaging part 85a of the spring 85 is engaged with the lever 82, and in order to prevent the plunger 83 from separating from the solenoid 84, one end of the plunger 83 is opposed to a separation preventive wall 86a of the cover 86, and a solenoid assembling unit 98 is constituted. The unit 98 is elastically and repulsively engaged with an installing part of a housing of a steering lock device of an automatic car, and a screw member 109 to support the lever 82 is screw-fitted to and installed in the installing part, and is not installed in a manual car. Therefore, an exclusive housing by a kind of car is obviated, and the number of part items can be reduced.
