Abstract:
In a steering assist device, a correction gain setting unit 52 sets correction gain G to one if it determines that that the sign of a lateral deviation change rate dy/dt is different from that of a second derivative value d 2 y/dt 2 of a lateral deviation y. The correction gain setting unit 52 sets the correction gain G to a predetermined value ± that is larger than one, if it determines that that the sign of the lateral deviation change rate dy/dt is the same as that of the second derivative value d 2 y/dt 2 of the lateral deviation y. A gain multiplication unit 53 corrects a lane keep assist current value Iro* calculated by a lane keep assist current value calculation unit 51 by multiplying the lane keep assist current value Iro* by the correction gain G set by the correction gain setting unit 52.
