To provide a steering system to put a steering wheel in conjunction properly with a spring reaction force mechanism.

An ECU 200 is installed in the steering system and equipped with a related condition changeover control part 256 having a straight advancing condition acknowledging part 272. When a straight advance maintained condition is acknowledged by the straight advancing condition acknowledging part 272, the related condition changeover control part 256 puts the spring reaction force mechanism 24 in the conjugated condition by controlling a spring reaction force existence-none changeover mechanism 26. Because the spring reaction force mechanism 24 is arranged so that the deformation amount of a spring 124 is such as not to generate an elastic reaction force in the non-conjugated condition, the steering wheel 14 and the spring reaction force mechanism 24 can be put in conjugation so as not to generate an elastic reaction force when the steering position lies in the straight advance steering position.
