In a stencil printing apparatus, stencil paper subjected to the plate making process on the basis of printing data is wound on a plate cylinder and ink in the plate cylinder is transferred onto printing paper from perforations of the stencil paper to execute a printing process. The apparatus is equipped with a printing color specifying part which specifies an ink color to be used, a plate cylinder ink storage part which stores the color of the ink in the plate cylinder, a discriminating part which discriminates whether or not the specified ink color conforms with that stored in the plate cylinder and a user information part which informs a user that the plate making process can not be executed with the specified ink color, when the specified ink color does not conform with that in the plate cylinder.
