Abstract:

To provide a stent capable of quickly forming an endothelial cell layer on the surface with reduced adhesion of platelets after retained within a blood vessel.

The stent 1 can be served as a scaffold for adhesion and growth of endothelial cells because pH-responsive water-expansive polymeric particles fixed to the surface capture moisture, protein and ions, etc. only in blood. Accordingly, the endothelial cells are formed more quickly on the surface of the stent 1 after the stent is retained within the blood vessel, and the pH-responsive water-expansive polymeric particles to expand with moisture under a condition that pH is at least 7 are chemically fixed to the surface of the stent so that the healing process quickly advances.
