To provide a step canceling apparatus which can be easily and readily set and allows the user to easily move up and down in a small installation site, by constituting the apparatus of a footstool which is placed on a surface below a step portion, for reducing the step difference, and a handrail equipped with legs, which is attached at least to one of right and left sides of the footstool.

The step canceling apparatus is constituted of a footstool 2 which is placed on the ground G below a step portion D, for reducing the step difference, and a handrail 3 equipped with legs 4, 5, which is attached to the right side of the footstool 2. A length adjusting expandable leg 6 is fitted into the lower edge of the front leg 4, in a vertically movable manner. The expandable leg 6 is mounted on the ground G, and the rear leg 5 of the handrail 3 is mounted on a floor P of an entrance above the step portion D. Square support plates 5a, 6a are attached to the lower edges of the expandable leg 6 and the rear leg 5, which plates are fixed to the floor P and the ground G by screws, respectively. While the rear leg 5 is mounted on the floor P, the expandable leg 6 is vertically moved, and the lower edge of the expandable leg 6 is grounded on the ground G irrespective of the height of the floor P of the entrance, followed by fixing the expandable leg 6 to the front leg 4 by bolts and nuts 7.
