To provide a step for a passenger conveyor, which is improved in visibility by a simpler constitution.

A passenger conveyor comprises endlessly connected steps for circulations, a drive device for driving the steps, and handrails arranged on the right and left sides of the steps. At least the cleat portions or the riser portions are holed in their surfaces, and the holes are partially buried with a luminous material so that the steps having a luminous material are improved in abrasion resistance and elongated in life time at a low cost. Level differences are made between the luminous material and the holes to establish a slip preventing effect.
