To provide a stepping motor which can reduce the static angle error to obtain a higher turn angle precision.
The stepping motor comprises a bottomed cylindrical casing 1 made of a conductive metal, a substantially cylindrical stator 2 assembled in the casing 1, a rotor 3 provided rotatably inside of the stator 2 and a lid body 4 covering the opening portion of the casing, wherein the stator 2 is formed in an annular plate shape and fitted in the casing 1, a pair of metal field plates 7 having a plurality of magnetic poles 7a on the inner peripheral part are axially provided in two sets adjacent to each other, and exciting coils 9, 10 are wound around the outer periphery of bobbin 8 made of a synthetic resin which is integrally formed on the outer peripheral surface of the field plate 7. The ampere returns of the exciting coil 10 which are positioned on the bottom plate 1a side of the casing 1 is made smaller than the ampere turns of the exciting coil 9 which are positioned on the opening 1b side.
