To provide a stereo image generation device which can cut a region where an image of a subject is reflected so that a vignetting area is not included from an image obtained by photographing the subject by using a stereo adapter.
A stereo image generation device includes: a luminance calculation section 11 which obtains a luminance representative value of a first region on which two luminous fluxes are not made incident from a subject on an image photographed by using a stereo adapter 8; a threshold determining section 12 which obtains a threshold in response to the luminance representative value; and a subject region extracting section 13 which extracts two sets of pixels having luminance higher than the threshold on the image as a second region on which one of the luminous fluxes is made incident and a third region on which the other luminous flux is made incident and sets a group of a first partial image which is cut from the extracted second region and a second partial image which is cut from the third region as a stereo image.
