Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image display device that displays a stereoscopic image with an extended field of view with an integral stereoscopic system.SOLUTION: A stereoscopic image display device 1 comprises: a display panel 2 that is formed of a transmissive spatial optical modulator; a point light source panel 3 formed of a plurality of point light sources L that irradiate an element image to be displayed with light from the back face; a prism array 4 that changes the direction of the point light sources L to a direction to extend the direction of irradiation of the point light source L; and display control means 5 that displays, while switching between, first to third element image groups on the display panel 2, and performs switching between turn-on and turn-off of the point light sources of the point light source panel 3 so as to turn on only a point light source group in the direction of irradiation corresponding to the element image group to be displayed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
