The pixels of paralactic images 91A-91D are arranged respectively shifted one pixel each in the vertical direction, and individual grating is constituted of a parallel straight line group so as to be polarized to respective A-D in a specified pralactic area 8, and the stereoscopic image is obtained through the diffraction grating having specified size and angle. That is, the paralactic images 91A-91D photographed by four TV cameras are synthesized by an image synthesis device 4. This synthesized image is synthesized so that though the pixels of the paralactic images 91A-91D are arranged periodically, they are arranged shifted one pixel in the vertical direction. Then, the magnification of the synthesized image is adjusted by a lens 2, and the image is formed on a grating surface 3. The grating surface 3 having a grating cell corresponding to the pixel of the image polarizes light on the position of the viewpoint area 8 by using the arranged synthesized image.
