To suppress the lowering of measuring accuracy due to erroneous matching and to obtain a more dense measured result.
The standard window of a fixed area is set with a point, where the correspondence point of a standard image is desired to be obtained, as a reference, the reference window of the same size as the standard window is set in a reference image, and a difference between the standard window and the reference window is evaluated while performing scanning along an epipolar line in the reference image. Then, the position of the reference window being the smallest in the difference is decided as a stereoscopic correspondence point, and a parallax is measured from the difference between the position of the standard window and the position of the reference window. The reliability of the correspondence point (parallax) is calculated by the first reliability based on the sharpness of the peak of the evaluated value distribution of the difference of the patterns of the standard window and the reference window and the second reliability based on the flooding condition of the peak, then the value of the reliability of the parallax is outputted together with the information on the parallax.
