To capture a panoramic image which is capable of being stereoscopically viewed.
A through image is captured (c) in a capturing range substantially the same as a capturing range (b) of a panoramic photograph or in a capturing range including the capturing range of the panoramic photograph, and distance information of each pixel is acquired. A person is extracted from the through image and the extracted person is determined as a main object. A focus point is determined such that the main object is positioned near the rear end of the depth of field. In this state, first left-viewpoint image data and right-viewpoint image data are captured (d), and second left-viewpoint image data and right-viewpoint image data are captured (e). A panoramic image is obtained (a) by stitching together the first left-viewpoint image data and the second left-viewpoint image data and stitching together the first right-viewpoint image data and the second right-viewpoint image data.
