To provide a stereoscopic video display apparatus, capable of suppressing eyestrain by removing or reducing the mismatching of a visual system and capable of being adaptive to the reproduction positions of various stereoscopic images.
The stereoscopic video display device 10 is constituted of a display 21 for displaying a left eye image and a right eye image on a screen; an image display processing means for performing processing for displaying the right and left images on the screen of the display 21; a telecentric optical system 22 arranged between an observer and the display 21; a driving means 23 for moving the display 21, in a direction of bringing the display 21 close to and/or separating it from the telecentric optical system 22; and a control means for sending a control signal for controlling the operation of the driving means to the driving means 23 in synchronism with the display processing of the right and left images and moving the display 21 back and forth, according to changes in the depth directions of reproduction positions of noticed points in the right and left images.
