To provide a sterilization method for a food-related member capable of safely and readily performing a sterilizing work and obtaining sufficient sterilizing effect and its apparatus.

This sterilizing method sterilizes a position of a food-related member coming in contact with a food, such as holding or cutting the food and at least a food-contacting position of the food-related member is positioned in a coil device having a coil connected to a high-frequency generator, then a high-frequency current is supplied to the coil in the coil device, thus the food- related member is induction-heated to a prescribed temperature to sterilize the position coming in contact with a food. The food-related member is, e.g. a hook for hanging edible meat and the edible meat is sterilized by positioning the hook in the coil device before hanging the edible meat.
