Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To kill bacteria such as Escherichia coli causing infection in a human body in soil and sand, by treating soil and sand with a specific organic acid or its salt safe to a human, exhibiting its antibacterial effect for a long period of time even under the natural environment such as rainfall, etc.
SOLUTION: Soil and sand are treated with oxolinic acid (namely 5-ethyl-5,8- dihydro-8-oxo[1,3]dioxolo[5,5-g]quinoline-7-carboxylic acid) or its salt. An alkaline earth metal salt such as calcium salt or magnesium salt and aluminum salt having low water solubility is preferable as the salt of oxolinic acid. Oxolinic acid or its salt is directly used or supported on a proper carrier and used. The treatment of soil and sand is carried out by blending finely granulated soil sand with oxolinic acid or its salt, spraying on the surface of soil and sand or applying on soil and sand in a liquid state. The amount of oxolinic acid or its salt is about 20-200g based on 1m3 of soil and sand.
