Abstract:
PURPOSE: To exactly and efficiently extract the structural feature of the skeleton line or the like of a linear graphic such as a character.
CONSTITUTION: The extraction of a border point and a border point series (processing 1), the extraction of a cross-section orthogonally crossing a segment (processing 2), the extraction of a cross-section system being the series of the cross-section and the delete of the unnecessary cross-section system (processing 3 and 4), the integration of the cross-section systems (processing 5), the extraction of an unclear area and the preparation of a cross-section system graph (processing 6), and the correction of the cross-section system graph (processing 7) are successively operated. In the processing 4, an intersection between cross- section systems is judged by checking the intersection between one arbitrary cross-sections of each cross-section system of a pair of cross-section systems on which a circumscribed rectangle is overlapped. In the processing 5, a width between the cross-section systems at the interval of a gap is compared, and the integration of the cross-section systems is not tried when a prescribed condition is not fulfilled.
