To obtain the subject beverage, capable of improving bacteria composition of abnormal gut flora and keeping quality for extended periods, by mixing cream or the like prepared under specific conditions with unmodified lactoferrin.
This sterilized beverage containing unmodified lactoferrin is obtained by steps of (A) separation of cream from milk to obtain the skim milk, (B) separation of lactoferrin from the skim milk, (C) sterilization of the lactoferrin under heating in an acidic condition, (D) sterilization, under heating, of the cream separated in the step A and/or skim milk treated in the step B to separate lactoferrin, (E) mixing the cream and/or skim milk sterilized under heating with the unmodified lactoferrin sterilized under heating in the step C, (F) preferably further sterilizing and cooling the stock solution (excluding a stock solution for bean milk) containing aloe extract or the like, (G) adding an acid to the lactoferrin solution to keep it acidic, and sterilization of the solution under heating, and (H) adding the unmodified lactoferrin sterilized under heating to the sterilized stock solution for the beverage to 0.02 to 5.0 wt.%.
