PURPOSE: To complete sterilization in a short time by providing a microwave oscillator and lightening the thermal load applied on a lens case in sterilization.

CONSTITUTION: A soft contact lens sterilizer which is used for sterilizing a soft contact lens is equipped with a microwave oscillator. When sterilization processing is carried out by the heating by utilizing the revolution energy excitation of the water moleculs in the lens conservation liquid by the irradiation of microwaves, sterilization can be carried out without heating a lens case, and the deformation and breakage of the lens case due to the thermal strain can be prevented beforehand. In addition, since the heating efficiency is superior, the processing in a short time is permitted. Though sterilization processing is carried out by using a heating type sterilizer using a heater for each lens case and about 40min. is necessary for the heating and cooling in the conventional method, sterilization is carried out by setting the lens case into the accommodation container 3 of the sterilizer and irradiating the microwaves transmitted from a microwave oscillator 1 through a wave guide passage 2, and the irradiation time can be made short into 3min.
