PURPOSE: To provide a stick which is favorable as a walking stick on a plain place, which can be favorably used for stepping up/down on stairs by an aged person or a physically handicapped person, and which can be carried easily.

CONSTITUTION: A long stich main body 7 which is freely capable of expansion/ contraction is composed of an upper inner tube 11 provided with a grip 8 at a base end, and a lower outer tube 12 engaged around the upper inner tube 11 at a lower part of it, and having a ferrule 9 provided with a soft nonslip device 40 of synthetic resin or rubber at a lower end. A fixing metal 13 having a knob 14 is provided at an upper end part of the lower outer tube 12 for fixing the lower outer tube 12 on the upper inner tube 11 at an expansion/ contraction adjusting position. A step base 3 overhanging laterally from the lower outer tube 12 is provided at an upper position of the ferrule 9 on the stick main body 7. Height-changeable support legs 21 are provided under corner parts of a base frame of the step base 3 to provide the stick with the step base.
