Title:
STILBENE COMPOUND HAVING HYDROXYL GROUP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3542216
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as an organic photoconductive material for an electrophotography or a synthetic intermediate for various materials derived from a hydroxyl group.
SOLUTION: This new stilbene compound is expressed by formula I (Ar1 and Ar2 are each an aromatic hydrocarbon or a bifunctional group of a heterocycle; Ar3 is an aromatic hydrocarbon or a heterocycle; R1 and R2 are each an alkyl, a halogen, an aromatic hydrocarbon or a heterocycle; (m) and (n) are each 0-4), e.g. N,N-bis[4-(3- methoxystyryl)phenyl]-N-(4-methylphenyl)amine. The compound of formula I is obtained by subjecting an alkoxy group of a stilbene compound of formula II (R3 and R4 are each an alkyl, a halogen, an aromatic hydrocarbon or a heterocycle; (p) and (q) are each 0-4) to a cleavage reaction of an ether bonding. The compound of formula I is useful as an electric charge transfer material, etc., of a photosensitive layer in a photosensitizer for an electrophotography by using a sensitizer of a dye or Lewis acid, etc., especially as an electric charge transferring material in a function-separating type photosensitive layer in which an electric charge generating layer and an electric charge transferring layer are divided into two layers. A material derived from a hydroxyl group is useful as an intermediate for a polycarbonate resin and a polyester resin, etc.
