NEW MATERIAL:3,3',5-Trihydroxy-4'-methoxystilbene-3-O(6"-O-p-coumaroyl) -β-D-glucopyranoside of formula I and 3,4'-5-trihydroxystilbene-3-O-(6"-p- coumaroyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside of formula II.
USE: An antifouling coating composition having low toxicity, high safety to envi ronment and industrial application and exhibiting strong antifouling effect.
PREPARATION: A compound of formula III (X and Y are H, OH or OCH3; m is 1-5; n is 1-4: R is H or group of formula IV or V) is produced by extracting an above-ground part of a plant of genus Eucalyptus with a solvent miscible with water, concentrating the extract under reduced pressure and subjecting the resultant viscous liquid to silica gel elution column chromatography. The objective compound of formula I or II can be produced by purifying the compound of formula III by silica gel column chromatography (benzene-acetone mixture) or polyamide gel column chromatography (methanol- water mixture).
