PURPOSE: To add a phase reference signal to a video signal sample series accurately at an equal interval at a same phase by sampling and holding again the video signal sample series with the phase reference signal added thereto.

CONSTITUTION: The recorder is a still picture recorder recording a sample series of a still picture as an analog signal onto a recording medium, an IT addition circuit 102 comprising an adder 102a and a sample-and-hold circuit 102b is provided between an image pickup element 101 and a CHSV camera signal processing circuit 103, the adder 102a is used to add a phase reference signal to an output of the image pickup element 101 and the sample-and-hold circuit 102b samples an output signal of the adder 102a based on a prescribed clock.
