Abstract:
To provide a stock composition for an automobile road wheel which has high surface hardness and high strength properties after heat treatment, and to provide a method for producing an automobile road wheel in which the characteristics of the stock are made the most of.
The stock composition for an automobile road wheel is obtained by using iron as the main material and incorporating specified amounts of carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, aluminum, titanium, niobium, chromium and boron therein. The stock composition is formed into a road wheel rim, and the end parts of the road wheel rim are subjected to high frequency heat treatment, are cooled by the jetting of cooling water, and are hardened.
