PURPOSE: To prevent damage of a stoker due to contact of combustion heat direct with a fire grate of the stoker.

CONSTITUTION: A stoker type combustion furnace for feeding fuel in one direction to burn it on a stoker 2 comprises a hopper 1 for charging fuel toward a fuel moving direction on the stoker 2 at an end of an upstream side of a fuel moving direction (c) to burn the fuel to form an ash layer on the stoker 2 and to charge the fuel from the hopper 4 of a side toward a direction perpendicular to the direction (c) of the fuel above the ash layer.
