Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable smooth backward creep while a stopping time of an engine is extended as long as possible without loss of vehicle operability so as to save an amount of fuel consumption for a vehicle having an automatic transmission.
SOLUTION: An electronic control unit 1 commands to prevent a restart of fuel supply following fuel shutoff so as to stop an engine E and its needless idling when a shift position is at D position and a brake pedal 8 is depressed. On the other hand, when the shift position is at R position and the brake pedal is depressed, fuel supply following fuel shutoff is restarted so as to maintain idling without stopping the engine E and to drive a starter motor 7 automatically for restarting the engine E when the engine E is stopped.
