A CHA part 1A and a DKA part 1B are provided in a single control package 1. If a failure such as blackout is detected (T1), the CHA part 1A performs shielding, etc. of an access request from a host 3 and starts termination processing. When the termination processing of the CHA part 1A is completed, a power source control part 1C in a package stops clock supply to the CHA part 1A (T2). Then, when the DKA part 1B completes destage processing, the power source control part 1C in the package stops power supply to the DKA part 1B (T3). Power consumption of the package 1 is gradually lowered according to progress of the termination processing.
